  • Overview

War-torn countries like Darfur, Afghanistan and Iraq are often unable to address even the most basic medical needs of their citizens. A unique volunteer effort, called ‘iCons in Medicine,' could soon change that, using new advances in telemedicine to provide much needed assistance to medical care providers in these areas. Dr. William Kennedy Smith, founding president of iCons in Medicine and the Center for International Rehabilitation in Chicago, tells host Bruce Japsen about an effort to get 300 volunteer physicians to provide 1,000 hours of free consultations to their medical colleagues working in regions ravaged by war, poverty and other devastating conditions.
